Gold Coast Multicultural Network

In celebration of Harmony Week, we hosted the Gold Coast Multicultural Network panel discussion -  The Role of Cultural Leader and its functionalities in our society.

Our panel of community leaders, including Ping, Antonella, Elsabet, Hussain, and Shirley, engaged in an interactive dialogue with the audience, discussing the roles of cultural leaders, barriers and solutions within their communities, and ways to encourage community leadership. The event was moderated by Habib Jamal.

During the event, our panellists highlighted the importance of sector representatives understanding that barriers exist across language, culture, and religious backgrounds, that the role of cultural leader is an additional responsibility above their paid and personal roles, and that they perform this role from a place of altruism to better support the lives of their communities. 

This discussion demonstrated that more work needs to be done to ensure all services are truly delivered from a place of equity. Thank you to all who took part.
