Fair Trading Workshop For Community Groups

Community groups were very engaged and keen to learn how to become incorporated at our Fair Trading workshop. It was more than just a workshop, it was a welcoming space where they could ask questions and get advice from experts. We had Natasha Schuba from Harm Prevention and Regulation, Department of Justice and Attorney-General Justice QLD, as well as Savita Gurung, Multicultural Officer, and Lyndsay Mandaru, Project Officer from the City of Gold Coast.

Natasha's session was full of practical tips as she guided her presentation with the questions community groups asked, providing an excellent opportunity for them to discuss their current situation. They covered everything from tax deductions on donations to financial support, applying for grants, electing board members, the minimum number of people required to set up a charity and specific tools that the Department of Justice recommends to maintain long-term legal compliance for incorporated groups.

The City of Gold Coast team then discussed grant writing and volunteer materials for incorporated groups.

Workshops like these are crucial for community groups to understand the process of becoming incorporated. It helps them manage their operations better, access more resources, and ensure they stay compliant with legal requirements. Plus, all our workshops are free!

Thank you to the Community Development team for organising such an important workshop.
